The new owners of The Three Eagles pub inherited an unusually sophisticated network
infrastructure—far beyond what’s typical for a hospitality venue. Installed by the previous
operators, the system mirrored a corporate IT environment and included multiple enterprise-grade
Cisco switches, ten-plus access points, a legacy VoIP platform, and several isolated VLANs
dedicated to EPOS (Electronic Point of Sale), CCTV, and guest Wi-Fi.
However, the entire setup was undocumented and had become unmanageable. The pub had changed
hands after the previous business failed, and with no continuity or guidance from the former IT
team, the new owners were faced with a system they didn’t understand, couldn’t control, and
couldn’t trust. Despite the high-grade hardware, operational reliability was poor, and
collaboration between the pub and its previous suppliers had broken down. This
disjointed system posed risks for customer service, payment processing, and compliance—and made
future upgrades near-impossible.
In2Com was called in to assess and recover the network. On our first site visit, we began with a complete discovery phase—reverse-engineering the existing setup to fully map the topology, VLANs, switch configurations, wireless deployment, and the routing framework. After documenting the system, we presented a clear plan of action. On our second visit, we took full control of the infrastructure. We factory reset all Cisco switches and reconfigured them from scratch, deploying clean VLAN segmentation for EPOS, CCTV, VoIP, internal operations, and guest access. We also: Coordinated directly with the EPOS and CCTV vendors to ensure clean integration. Worked alongside the local IT provider to streamline overlapping systems. Installed a new VoIP solution to replace the fragmented legacy system. Provisioned and deployed a robust business-grade broadband connection. Ensured all wireless access points were properly configured and managed. This created a fully functional, secure, and scalable network environment aligned to the pub’s operational needs.
The Three Eagles now benefits from a truly enterprise-class network tailored for hospitality. All critical services—payments, security, voice, Wi-Fi—run over segmented VLANs for performance and security. Staff experience a faster, more reliable working environment, and the business is positioned to easily support events, seasonal surges, and vendor updates. Crucially, the pub now has a clear, documented IT structure and a dedicated partner in In2Com for ongoing support, modifications, and troubleshooting.
